The Club at Kukui'ula us a high quality real estate development on the south coast of Kauai, not far from Lihue.
The site was formerly a sugar plantation.
Central to the development is the golf course designed by Tom Weiskopf.
Weiskopf has designed a course for members with wide fairways, a relatively gentle start for the first 4 holes before building to a strong finish.
The clusters of bunkering throughout the course are a feature, and water hazards gain the players attention on holes 6, 9 & 18- and they are pretty holes!
However, it is the holes in the back nine with sea views that are the most memorable at Kukui'ula.
These are world class golf holes!
Notable holes include:
- hole 8, a longer par 3 with plantation vegetation to carry and a plateau green with sea background
- hole 12, a medium length par 3 with a dramatically bunkered green and plantation background
hole 13- a wonderful par 5 that asks you to take on another gorgeous cluster of bunkers on the corner for the chance to get home in two. The second shot is all downhill with cliffs and sea views behind the green, and more brilliant bunkering protecting the front of the green.
- hole 14 is a short driveable par 4 with impressive bunkering lurking for those attempting to drive the green
THe club at Kukui'ula is a private members club- and the members must love it.
It is a playable course that can be challenging at times.
It has some all world holes that everyone will want to play over.
The course is beautfully maintained and the club has quality facilities throughout from practice areas, pro shop to spa.
